POSITION SUMMARY: The Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout all areas of the restaurant, bar, and outdoor spaces. This position supports the operations team by ensuring that dining areas, kitchens, bars, restrooms, and patios are kept in excellent condition for both guests and staff. A strong attention to detail, reliability, and pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness are essential to success in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen and guest areas, including dining rooms, bars, patios, and outdoor seating areas.
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and host stations; ensure all furniture is stable and properly arranged according to daily layouts.
- Sweep, mop, and power wash floors, walkways, patios, and surrounding exterior spaces on a scheduled basis.
- Maintain windows, glass panels, and light fixtures by cleaning and polishing regularly.
- Wipe and disinfect surfaces throughout the premises, including railings, partitions, heaters, fans, and fixtures.
- Clean and maintain restrooms to the highest standards of hygiene: disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, walls, and doors; restock paper products and soap dispensers.
- Empty trash bins, replace liners, and ensure waste and recycling areas are clean and orderly.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of bar and kitchen service areas, including wiping down equipment, sinks, and storage shelves.
- Sweep and organize gravel, pavers, and outdoor flooring materials to maintain a neat appearance.
- Inspect furniture, cushions, and fixtures for damage or wear; promptly report repair needs to management.
- Support daily and weekly deep-cleaning tasks, including power washing, degreasing, and high-dusting as scheduled.
- Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas, including dishwashing zones, trash areas, and storage rooms.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with company and health department guidelines.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of outdoor areas, including cabanas, umbrellas, or seasonal equipment.
- Perform routine checks throughout the shift to ensure all guest areas remain presentable and hazard-free.
- Assist FOH team with opening sidework as requested by Executive Chef or Manager.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by assisting colleagues as needed and communicating maintenance or supply needs to management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Prior experience in a porter, maintenance, or janitorial role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and work ethic.
- Ability to follow cleaning protocols, schedules, and safety standards.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe chemical handling.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays as required by business needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, reaching, scrubbing, and wiping.
- Operate cleaning tools and equipment, including power washers and floor scrubbers.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain stamina and focus in a high-volume environment.
